The boys have finished laying the Wormy Chestnut flooring out at Reservoir and they’ve done a great job!
Wormy Chestnut is not a single species of timber but a blend of three eucalypts native to Australia’s south-east. It is commonly used for flooring applications because of its varying colourings, from pinks, pale browns to rich chocolate browns and also it’s durability, with a janka (hardness) rating of 8.1. No two pieces are the same with distinctive natural features of gum veins, pin holes and squiggly worm markings (hence the name). The floors will be finished with a near invisible water-based surface protection to retain the timbers’ natural colour and texture.
