Kitchen splashbacks, as well as serving the important function of protecting the wall behind it from moisture, oil and food splatter, can also be a great visual attention-grabbing feature.
Splashbacks can add colour to an otherwise neutral colour palette and add texture through use of different materials. Commonly used materials include tiles and laminate, generally more cost-effective options. Glass and stone are also used however they are more pricey options.
An important consideration when choosing your splashback is the maintenance required and the ease of cleaning. Glass splashbacks have increased in popularity due its ease of cleaning and its hygienic properties.
We are currently loving the stylish finish of a herringbone tiled splashback.
An innovative idea we recently saw (on a currently airing renovation show, that I have only ever watched once ?) was a splashback that incorporated a built-in shelf to store oils, spices, utensils etc. I thought that this was a great idea.
